How do I know which department I need?

The Mary Vinson Memorial Library utilizes a phone system that can effectively route patron calls to the appropriate department.  Additionally, the phone system will inform the caller on the hours of operation, location, and closings.  If you are a frequent caller, or simply don't want to listen to the prerecorded message, please simply press the department that you may need:

  1. Press 1.  Select this option if you would like information on our hours of operation, fax number, and facility location.

  2. Press 2.  Select this option if you would like to renew items, questions about fines, to place items on hold, or for other circulation questions.  As renewals and requests for items cannot be made via voicemail, you will not be able to leave a message.  This is the front desk or Circulation Department.  The Circulation Supervisor is Elizabeth Bender.

  3. Press 3.  Select this option if you have a reference question.  These inquiries can include genealogy questions and other types of subject areas.  You are permitted to leave a message during non-operating hours if necessary.  This is the upstairs desk or Reference Department.  The head of Reference is Reference Librarian, Kell Carpenter.

  4. Press 4.  Select this option if you have questions about Story Time, Toddler Time or other Children's activities for both the Mary Vinson and Lake Sinclair libraries.  You are permitted to leave a message during non-operating hours if necessary.  This is our Children's Department.  The Children's Coordinator is Anne Moore.

  5. Press 5.  Select this option if you are interested in making a book purchase, need assistance in finding out where to purchase a book and pricing or other related questions.  You are permitted to leave a message during non-operating hours if necessary.  This is our Technical Services Department.  The Readers Services Supervisor is Jared Baker.

  6. Press 6.  Select this option if you are unclear on which department will be able to assist you with your inquiry or if you have questions about Library policies. You are permitted to leave a message during non-operating hours if necessary.  This is the Administrative Office.  Assistance with call routing is typically given by Assistant Director, LaToya Davidson or someone on the administrative staff.

  7. Press 7.  Select this option if you would like to reserve the Meeting Room at the Mary Vinson Memorial Library. Assistance with reserving the Meeting Room is typically given by the Director, Barry Reese. Please note that a valid library card is needed to reserve the Meeting Room and you will be asked to give the Library card number when reserving the room.

  8. Press 8.  Select this option if you did not hear all the options or simply want them repeated.

If you would like to speak to a member of our staff, simply press the extension during the message.  Here is a listing of the department extensions:

  4. Human Resources / Accounts Payable - 24
